Viewing strange cock can be hard on the psyche

There has been much written about the male genitalia. As humans, we have been depicting the penis ever since we were able to draw on cave walls. Since the advent of the mobile phone and most importantly, with the self-facing camera, men are taking more dick pics than ever before.

In the gay community on dating apps such as Grindr and Scruff, men send each other photos of their penises to engage in sexual intercourse. When one receives such a photo, the image is glanced at and in the blink of an eye a decision is made whether to sleep with the person or not. Very rarely if ever are the dick pics examined or repurposed and are (like Snapchat) only looked at very briefly.

In the heterosexual world, some women believe they are being subjugated by the onslaught of dick pics they receive and see this as a form of “digital flashing.” In the gay world, this is not the case, it is not seen as harassment and is merely a tool to get one in the sack.

This is an attempt to expose what is happening in the gay world on dating apps and also as a way to show penis and genitalia in a new light and a new rendering. Sure the photo looks generic in certain lighting and at the same predictable angle, but what happens if it is recreated in chalk or watercolor? Are we sending each other beautifully crafted works of art and not even realizing their full potential?

Most of the time, dick pics are thought of as ‘harmless,’ if they’re thought of at all, but they’re hardly ever treated seriously.
